Question from John: Do any of you have information that might be useful for a young friend, likely to end up as a Padmakara translator, who has been advised by the lamas to go and study more Tibetan in India or Nepal? He is French but almost bilingually English, and has already done 2 years’ Tibetan in Paris.

Prajñāpāramitā
Natural prajñāpāramitā: Suchness that is never something other and bears the name wisdom, which lacks the duality of apprehender and apprehended.
(1) Causal prajñāpāramitā: Suchness being obscured by various mental formations, which is called “the basic element that is the Sugata heart.”
(2) Fruitional prajñāpāramitā is this Heart being free from all obscurations (the impregnations of negative tendencies), that is, the dharmakāya.
Scriptural prajñāpāramitā: Cognizance that appears as assemblies of names, words, and letters, and is suitable to be observed by the disciple’s consciousness which entails dualistic appearances.
Prajñāpāramitā of the path: The prajñāpāramitā that arises as the nature of nonconceptual wisdom when settling in meditative equipoise.

Kalu Rinpoche aspiration prayer for translators
For the sake of all beings whose numbers fill all space–
Each one at some time my parent–
And especially for all humanity of this world,
I give rise to this aspiration:May all come to know, in their own languages,
The teachings of the enlightened ones, epitomized by scriptures
and realization,
And may all develop the extraordinary wisdom
That is the understanding of cyclic existence and transcendent states.May this dispel the dark oblivion of ignorance,
And based on the view, meditation, and conduct,
May all accomplish what is meaningful for themselves and others
And so come to realize perfect enlightenment.Now that I have developed this awakened aspiration,
The force of my intention will not diminish
Until I reach this very goal.
Lamas, buddhas, and bodhisattvas, bear witness to this,
And as I have made this commitment,
Think of me as your child!Inspire us all so that brilliant wisdom born of study, reflection,

May blaze in our minds,
